Bangkok Life Assurance Introduces first time in Thailand, Health Plan for Diabetics “BLA Diabetes Take Care” and a New Health Plan for Everyone “BLA Raksukapab”

Bangkok Life Assurance is introducing BLA Diabetes Take Care, a new health insurance plan specifically designed for diabetics and those at risk of diabetes. The plan offers up to three million baht coverage for complications of diabetes medical care includes death benefits, both from accident and illness. At the same time, BLA Raksukapab, a valuable health insurance plan, was also introduced offering comprehensive coverage that covers medical expenses for inpatient hospitalization (IPD), room, foods and nursing services up to 90 days. That includes doctors and surgery fees. It is a practical and affordable health insurance plan that answers to consumers’ need.
Mr Ruangsak Panyabodegun, Senior Executive Vice President, Marketing Division, Bangkok Life Assurance Public Company Limited said that currently there are four million diabetics in Thailand. In every 100 people, there are eight people having diabetes. Data shows that 6.5% of the Thai people aged over 15 years old have diabetes, 10.4% found in those aged between 45 – 59 years old and 3.4% found in those aged between 30-44 years old. Evidently, the number is increasing, but surprisingly, over half of them never realize that they have diabetes. In 2014, the average death rate from diabetes has reached 32 people a day. It is expected that in the next 20 years, the number of diabetics will increase to 1.1 million people. With these in mind, coupled with our commitment in enhancing happiness for all Thais, we therefore continuously research and develop new insurance plans to meet customers’ financial needs while protecting the value of life in all ages.
Therefore, The Company has designed BLA Diabetes Take Care, a new insurance plan which is the first of its kind in Thailand’s insurance industry that specifically provides health protection coverage for diabetics and those at risk of diabetes (Terms and conditions as designated by the company). The plan aims to ease burdens of medical expenses, in the case of diabetes complications with coverage up to 3 million baht includes death benefits in the case of death due to illness or accident. Insurable age is 30-55 years and having diabetes for a period not exceeding five years.
The Company also introduces new health insurance plan called BLA Raksukapab. It is a rider specifically designed to help ease burdens of expenses derived from health care. A study found that the cost of medical treatment in Thailand has increased to 250 billion baht, which grew at twice the rate of inflation in the past 11 years. This is due to the fact that the country is entering an ageing society and from the increasing salary of the medical personnel, representing 2% and 6% respectively.
The BLA Ruksukapab is a rider designed to provide health coverage that covers medical expenses for inpatient hospitalization (IPD), room, foods and nursing services up to 90 days.
